Megazone 23 Part I

Mega Zone 23 is considered one of the most popular anime movies or ova's every to grace the screen. Even though it is rarely old Mega Zone 23 set the standards for anime and the foundation for other great animes. Mega Zone 23 is broken up into three different parts each with their own different type of story and plot. I will mainly focus now on the first Mega Zone 23 know over in America as Mega Zone 23 Part 1. Now originally some of the footage for this movie was suppose to be in the never released Robotech movie entitled "Robotech the Untold story".

But unfortunately that movie was scrapped do to poor screenings and the first Mega Zone 23 movie was released without anything saying that this originally would be part of robotech. So without further adieu I will give you the basic information about the first Mega Zone 23 movie. The year is sometime in the future set on earth or at least we think it is earth. A man by the name of Shogo meets a beautiful girl who is inspiring to be a dancer her name is Yui. At first the relationship is a bit rocky but Shogo gets her number thus chalk up one for Shogo's scoreboard.

Eventually Shogo meets up with a friend of his in a garage basically this friend of Shogo shows him a brand new type of bike. But before much can be said about this new type of bike a bunch of men in suits attempts to kill shogo and his friend. Unfortunately Shogo's friend is killed but Shogo does manage to escape with his life and this new bike. The bad thing is now the killers are after him in order to prevent Shogo from learning about the Garland's true power. Shogo tries to uncover the bike to the media through a show by a girl named Eve.

Eve is your basic Minmei figure and you can tell that the original creator of Minmei had a big say in the creation of this character. Well the only way to best describe Eve is that she is a classier version of Lynn Minmei and is just as big of a star as her. Now you all are probably wondering what about Shogo well he is basically trying to stay alive and get into Yui's pants. And does mange to successfully do both things, eventually a battle between Shogo and the suits occurs in which all the secrets about life in general are discussed. Apparently the men in suits are actually the government and that the earth to Shogo and his friends is not indeed earth but a spaceship with simulator programs.

Thus we finally know that the plot from Matrix was indeed taken from this anime. So basically now the government wants to get there hands on Shogo's bike because it is the key to activating Bahamood which is the computer that controls all the enviroment and deceives the people into thinking they are really on earth. So the ultimatium for Shogo is join us or die. Shogo decides not join and thus he is able to escape for the time being. The government manages to crack Bahamood and deceives the people and stages a war which in reality is against the true earth. Shogo knows that he has no choice but to try and expose the truth and save Eve who is actually bahamood.

Just like any other guy Shogo knows he could possibly die and asks Yui to sleep with him. She indeed agrees and there is a brief sex scene in this movie in which Shogo discloses the truth about Bahamood and the government. Thus once Shogo is done he goes off in an attempt to stop the government. The final battle ensues and Shogo does real well for a while but in the end is beaten badly by the head of the military. Broken not only Physically but Mentally Shogo manages to escape battered and bruised another day. Thus with a grim future and only Yui left to return to we see Shogo go off into the sunset defeated thus the credits role. I highly recommend Mega Zone 23 Part one to any true anime fan it has violence, drama, action, and even some sex elements to it a deffinite must see out of a possible 10 I give MegaZone 23 a 10.
