Cowboy Bebop Episode Sums

Session 1: Asteroid Blues

We are introduced briefly to the two bounty hunters known as Spike and Jet. In this episode the two hunters go after a guy named Asimov. Who apparently is a big time drug smuggler of a drug called Bloody Eye. Basically it is a performance enhancing drug that makes the person taking it stronger and more aware of his surroundings. Eventually Spike meets up with this Asimov guy and his girlfriend and is taken out in no time. However he manages to steal the guys drug for analyzing. Later on in the episode Spike poses as a drug dealer to get close to Asimov, the two begin to fight but this is briefly interrupted by the cops. A three way chase begins, between Asimov, Spike and the cops. By the end of the episode though Asimov's girlfriend kills him, and then is shot by the Cops. Unfortunately since Asimov is dead the bounty on his head is no more. Seems like Spike and Jet will be eating meat and green vegetables for awhile.

Session 2: Stray Dog Strut

In this episode the two bounty hunters go after a guy named Hakim. Apparently Hakim has stolen something important from a lab and now has scientist and bounty hunters after him. Eventually the cargo of Hakim gets stolen by a common thief and we learn that inside the case is really a dog. The thief tries to sell the dog to an illegal anime dealer but she doesn't want it. Eventually Hakim finds the dog, the dog recognizes Hakim and runs away. Once again we are treated to a three way chase between the dog, Hakim and Spike. Eventually the two go at it while the dog watches on the side lines. Eventually the dog job's off the bridge Hakim tries to follow and ends up getting tricked by the dog who then jumps off a boat and into spikes arm. Spike takes the dog (Ein) back to the bebop. Jet and Spike eventually get the idea to use the dog as bait so Spike goes back to the planet and walks Ein. Just then the scientist use a dog whistle to attract Ein, now a four way chase between the van, Ein, Spike, and Hakim begins. Spike has to give up the chase when Hakim almost runs him over. Eventually Hakim grabs the dog and pulls him into the car while the scientist fire a harpoon from their van onto Hakim's car. In the end run Ein escapes the car and cause Hakim and the scientist to go falling off the bridge. Later that day Hakim is arrested meaning that the bounty is now invalid. The only thing Jet and Spike get for their troubles is Ein the dog as their new companion.

Session 3: Honkey Tonk Woman

We start our episode with the introduction of Faye Valentine who gets caught by some gangsters. Apparently the crime boss wants her to do a job for him, and if she succeeds her debts will be erased unfortunately for Faye she has no choice but to cooperate. Meanwhile Spike and Jet go to a casino to try to make a couple of extra woolongs. Eventually though Faye mistakes Spike for a guy she is suppose to get a special poker chip from. When Spike doesn't give her the chip she gives chase and demands he gives her that poker chip. Spike tells her she has the wrong guy and walks off but incidentally bumps into the guy who really is the one with the chip. Both fall to the ground and switch chips. Spike then is attacked by some goons and fights them off, finds Jet and tries to escape. Faye escapes at the same time using her ship Spike and Jet stole away. The two bounty hunters capture Faye and demand to know what's going on. She tells them the story of the Poker chip and demands to be released but the two don't since she has a six million dollar bounty on her head. Eventually the crime boss shows up in the same space orbit of the Bebop and strikes a deal with Jet that if they trade him the poker chip that has a program in it, he will give them 300 million Woolongs. The guys can't resist and Spike goes out into space orbit to make the trade. Eventually though Spike gets double crossed by the guy and expecting this outsmarts the goon. Faye however manages to free herself and run off with the 300 woolongs. At this time the bebop fires its missiles and does away with the crime boss. Once again having evaded a good payoff the two bounty hunters go to a casino to use the poker chip to try and make a buck.

Session 4: Gateway Shuffle

In this episode the two bounty hunters are on the trail of their latest bounty however they stumble upon a group of terrorist that are worth much more then their primary target. Spike and Jet manage to capture Turaka who is a ecological terrorist that is worth 25 million woolongs. The two head back to the bebop in order to claim their bounty. While the thugs of the terrorist group strike a deal with the higher ups to get her free. Elsewhere at this same time Faye Valentine who is stranded in space tries to save a guy in space. Unfortunately the guy can't survive and ask her to deliver a cargo to ISSP. Faye agrees to do the job and uses her radio to contact the first ship she finds. Unfortunately for her its the bebop and she ends up bring a prisoner of Spike and Jet. The two hunters question her about the money she stole from them unfortunately she already used up all the money on gas and fees. She then tells them about the cargo she is caring which apparently Turaka remembers. Around this time though Spike and Jet are ordered by the police to let Turaka go that the bounty is no more. Reluctantly they free Turaka. Who then starts her terrorist plan into action by firing a missiles headed in earths direction that will turn all humans into apes. Just then Jet gets info that the bounty is back on but in order to get it you must capture Turaka and stop the missile.

Spike heads out in the sword fish to stop the missile but fails. Faye who manages to free herself again strikes a deal with Spike that she will help him out if she gets a 40% cut of the bounty they agree and Faye tries to stop the missile and fails. Just then the ISSP opens up a space gate that will send the missile to a remote location in space. Spike and Faye rush to the nearest warp gate and barely escape the missile The mission is a succeeds and the missile gets locked in another dimension however since they didn't' do anything to stop the missile the bounty hunters get no prize. Later on back at the Bebop, Faye decides for herself to stay on the Bebop as Jet and Spikes partner. She runs off to take a shower, during this time Spike says your honestly not going to let her stay, Jet says it can't be helped. Spike runs up stairs to tell Faye to leave but gets shot for this. Seems like the Bebop has a new member of the crew.

Session 5: Ballad of Fallen Angels

In this episode an former friend of Spike's named Vicious kills one of the head leaders of the organization known as Red Dragon. Jet tries to question Spike if he was once involved with the organization but he disregards Jet, and goes off. Faye being a women that is all action sees the bounty on the guy vicious killed and decides to go after him. She dresses up in a sexy dress and goes to an opera hall that Mao usually goes to. She however gets captured by Vicious. Elsewhere Spike meets up with an old Friend Anna to get information on what's going on in the organization. He learns that Vicious is back and killed Mao who took care of Spike back in his organization days. Later on Spike goes back to the Bebop and arms himself, Jet tells him that there is no bounty so why bothering going to take on Mao's killers. Spike says its to repay a friend, just then Faye contacts the guys telling her she's been captured and needs for someone to help her out. Jet says its her own problem and gets ready to turn off her communication when Spike says he'll go. Spike goes to the location and meets up with Vicious who has laid a trap for Spike. Spike however is too smart for that and ends up stopping the goons and freeing Faye who is told to get out of there.

Spike then battles Vicious to a stalemate Vicious has his sword to Spike's Shoulder and Spike has his gun to Vicious' Shoulder the two attack each other Spike goes crashing out the window but not before dropping a grenade. While falling we are treated to some flashbacks of his days in the Organization and Julia. Also the chapel explodes, and we fade to black. Spike hears singing and has a vision of Julia when he wakes up it is Faye singing and he lets out a muffled comments Faye can't hear him so she gets closer only to be insulted by Spike who says she can't sing, we hear a loud Scream Jet rushes to see what happened we see Faye walk off and Spikes bandages opened up, Jet laughs.

Session 6: Sympathy for the Devil

While on the trail of a bounty, Spike gets entangled into a favor. Apparently Spike runs into his bounty who is dying. Before he dies he ask Spike to do him a favor and kill Zebra, gives Spike a ring and dies. Spike goes on the trail of this Zebra guy who is accompanied by a little kid, eventually we learn that the little Kid is really Zebra and apparently was caught in an asteroid accident which gave him the power to never die or age. Spike and him get into a gun battle but Spike is bested and Zebra escapes. Spike's only lead is to use a guy who can't speak, memories to find out how to stop Zebra. Eventually Spike learns that the ring really is a piece of meteorite that can reverse the effects of Zebra's ability. Jet develops a bullet from of the meteorite so that Spike can fire it. Spike meets up with Zebra again and fires the bullet. Zebra thinking that it can't hurt him gets hit by the bullet and rapidly ages into a decrepit form and dies but thanks Spike for giving him the gift of death. So ends the episode.
